We hired one of these boats for a day and had a nice experience. This was our first time and we were given clear and detailed instructions for more than 20 minutes. The first half an hour was a little difficult and then we got comfortable. We were also given a few set of keys and instructions to open the locks. Last week we had a 4 night hire of Cray. We have used Pennine Cruisers several times over the years, the service always first class. A minor issue with the boat had the engineers out to sort within a short time and all was resolved.
We wouldn't hesitate to recommend them, sadly for the next two years (at least) they will no longer be hiring out holiday boats, instead concentrating on the day boats (due to issues out of their control - see their webpage for details). Rented a 6 berth barge from Monday till Friday. Amazing experience. The canal along there is so beautiful. The barge has everything you need to cruise and live in for a week.

Special mention to Zoe who was very lovely and helpful in telling us the best direction to head first. Thanks a lot Zoe =) Also Phil was very professional and helpful in getting us accustomed to the boat and its bits and bobs.

Great place to hire a day boat from. Staff were really helpful, knowledgeable and friendly. Boats were clean and well maintained. We were given tips of where to cruise to, timings, pubs etc. We’ve hired from different places before, but this was the best by far. Highly recommend Pennine Cruisers.
